Various ideas. I'm spending far more time figuring out the line form in my most recent designs compared to my first ones. Back then I would just pencil in some lines, throw some construction on and smash it out all in one go.
Initial form, took a long time using just the sketch but I'm happy with the proportions for now. I could make the N the same height but I'd lose some important parallel lines.
I decided to fill in the initial form then lay a sheet of paper over the top and trace the design from there. Because it took too long to pencil in I didn't want to waste it. I can use this as a vector image resource later on, too.
Pencil form. I finished the B entirely before starting the N.

Quite happy. I may not bother changing the proportions at all tbh. I love the font so I might end up doing the whole alphabet at some point.
It was very late and sadly I didn't get a pic of the construction for the N. It looked the same as that though, I didn't change it.
Sometimes I'll skip a ton of work and other times (like this one) I'll only do half an hour of work before taking a pic.
Final, paper blemishes removed and levels adjusted in PS.
A coloured version we developed, using a simple gradient map and white stroke.
