Commissioned piece for my cousin, done on A4 with a Copic Multiliner SP 0.03mm and a standard black coloured pencil.

Somewhere between 15 and 20 hours.

I'm immensely proud of this one (I may have said that before). Strong influence of Giger elements this time, but I think I've infused a distinct flavour of mine rather well.

Page one of two of draftwork. Page two had the semi-finalist.

Just like the last few, I drew and filled in the line form and layed a clean sheet of paper over the top and went from there.

Couple hours later and I'd crossed one of only a few hurdles.

Making my way towards the top of the C ever so slowly. I really didn't know what I'd draw up there until I just did it.

Pencilwork often takes longer than penwork despite lacking most of the detail.

I decided to slit the end off the tip of the 0.03mm tip because it can never be too fine. It worked well enough but I use a spare untouched one for a good portion of the work.

Penwork begins. I gave this section several passes because I kept looking back to MS and being unsatisfied with this detail so I kept adding more and more layers.

Getting there. I had plenty of fun drawing this piece, I love the form of the work and I think the time spent on drafts shows quite well.

jumping a lil bit to some more framework.

I skipped the left of the C until the end because I just wasn't sure on how I'd go about it.

Filling things in, leaving the pod-type areas till last-ish

Testing shading on the smaller pods first. Its really important to decide early on a light position nd stick to it. I should hav learned this more thoroughly and consistently by now but I keep "moving" the light as Im shading and it just creates more work

Shading is almost done but this is the "pencil" I've used over the last few works. I'll have to finally go get another one I guess... Its been 10 years since I got it.

Cheeky close-up of the final before the final final.

Final, paper blemishes removed (though not many) and levels adjusted in PS. Keep in mind that ArtStation compresses these a fair bit. The original is much larger.

Quick-ish glowy version I whipped up as an example. Quite happy with it though.
